FutureStars is a PRE race program for children ages 6-9 who are interested in alpine racing. This is a stay-at-home race program for children who turn six before January 1, 2023. Pre-requisites include being able to get on the chair and comfortably skiing Main Street at Hunt Hollow. We do understand that some kids "forget" how to go down Main Street from one season to the next or to get on the lift! We can get them up to speed.
The FutureStars Program starts with Holiday Camp and then runs for the next 7 consecutive weekends. Weekend training is on Saturdays from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm and on Sundays from 10:30 am until the end of your child's Lovejoy race.
FutureStars focuses on "FUN"damentals of skiing, with a HUGE emphasis on fun. Coaches will focus on parallel skis, being on the front of the boot and proper stance. You will see coaches doing drills with your child one run and then playing and going thru the terrain park the next. We truly focus on your children learning how to ski as well as LOVE skiing! We will also touch on the basics of racing. We will have a little gates mixed in but the primary focus will not be on winning, it will be on proper skiing... speed will come! Your children will get miles and miles on the snow, along with snow ball fights, tuck races and drills. SUNDAYS they will do the LOVEJOY as a group and coaches will start to teach the kids how to inspect a course.
Each FS will be enrolled in the Lovejoy series and will be awarded at least a participation medal if the participate in at least five races. There are also trophies for the top three racers in each age group. Medals are awarded at March Madness.
