U14 athletes will complete against racers from western New York as well as a State Championship at the end of the season. The U14’s will race slalom, giant Slalom and super G. The race schedule will involve traveling to Buffalo and Syracuse, and a state race with a location determined by NYSSRA. There will be more enhanced training opportunities as compared to younger age groups.
All Athletes MUST participate in two Super G camps in order to be able to participate in the Super G race and the states competition. SG skis are NOT required, but there is a minimum radius requirement for GS skis of 17 meters radius of 17. Requirements are posted on the USSA ski length Matrix. Athletes will need SL and GS skis. They will also need a race approved helmet and Slalom gear.
All U14s must be members of USSA and NYSSRA. To register without a late fee you need to do that by October 15.
Race details can be found on https://nyssra.org/tentative-calendar. Each venue will eventually have a race program posted that will outline the timeline for the day. It is a good idea to get in the habit of reading this in full before each event.
